At the end of the day, you’re just talking to people. You give instructions, you demonstrate exercises, you listen, you laugh, you guide with body language, you give verbal cues, you give some high-fives and then you go home. A great personal trainer is a great communicator.

As a fitness trainer, I see everyone rush in right at the beginning of the new year. Some stay, most don’t. My regular clients watch and laugh. Here are some tricks to help you get with it and stay with it.

Let’s be honest. If you go to a gym long enough, you get to know people. If you know and like those people, then the gym experience becomes something much different. Fitness centers play a bigger role in the community than you would think.
